Polraen Country House
Polraen Country House B&B / Guest houses
Polraen is a small historic hotel style country house nestling in the beautiful Looe River Valley in South East Cornwall. Awarded the AA Gold Star Award and tripadvisor 'Certificate of Excellence' and both AA Dinner and Breakfast Awards , our reputation for hospitality is matched by our unique location at Sandplace, surrounded by glorious Cornish countryside just 5 minutes from the popular seaside and fishing town of Looe. With easy access from extensive onsite parking and served by the scenic Looe Valley Line train and local bus services, our peaceful alternative to staying in the heart of town enables you to explore Cornwall with or without a car.
Here you can relax on a country house holiday near Looe and the sea combining Bed and Breakfast with optional evening dinner in the warm welcoming atmosphere of a private country house with the facilities of a small hotel, including an award winning garden, fully licensed bar and guest lounge and dining room conservatory. Double, twin and flexible family rooms are well equipped with modern ensuite facilities including WiFi access, while period colours, cushioned window seats, shutters and an old range reflect Polraen’s historic origins. It is a delightful venue for small wedding receptions, and group/family holidays- ‘non smoking’, child friendly and accessible to guests with restricted mobility who can manage one flight of stairs.
We endeavour to run Polraen Country House as an environmentally aware tourism business by adhering to recycling routines, environmentally friendly practices, assisting guests to explore Cornwall using public transport and participating as volunteers in our Looe Marine Conservation Group running free events. We hold the Green Acorn Award for Sustainable Tourism and have graduated from the Green Foundation Course at the Eden Project.
Ideal for a relaxing family holiday near the sea, a special celebration shortbreak or as a touring base to explore Cornwall and Devon, you’ll find Polraen is within easy distance of the Eden Project (35 minutes), the Lost Gardens of Heligan, National Trust properties such as Lanhydrock and Cotehele, while great valley walks are on the doorstep with the South West Coast Path, moorland walking, horse riding, golf and fishing all easily accessible nearby.
