Penryn - map

With a wealth of charm, character and history, Penryn is one of Cornwall’s most ancient towns founded in 1216. Standing at the head of the Penryn River, the town flourished as a medieval port and had a thriving trade in Cornish tin and copper long before the neighbouring and better known town of Falmouth existed. Today the town reflects a long history with many buildings dating back to Tudor, Jacobean and Georgian times. The environmentally sustainable development at Jubilee Wharf with a waterside café, workshops and events add a vibrancy to the town, which is also home to the Combined Universities Cornwall campus.

To find out more about the town’s remarkable history pay a visit to the museum in the town hall and look out for the Penryn Heritage Trail booklet which gives you a glimpse into Penryn’s past.
