Type: Cycling and Mountain Biking

The Bike Barn at Elm Farm offers a wide range of cycling services. Cycle hire, guided rides, history and nature tours, and Mountainbike skills training.

We have bikes for all ages. We also have tow-a-longs, little vans, child seats and tandems as well as supplying helmets, toolkits, locks, maps and pumps.

We can be found on the Coast to Coast Mineral Tramway Cycle Path which runs from the lovely coastal village of Portreath with it’s little harbour and historical mining connections, to Devoran alongside the stunningly beautiful Restronguet Creek. This is distance of eleven miles almost entirely offroad.

Travelling along this safe track you will experience the beauty of the Cornish countryside such as the lovely Unity Woods and see Cornwall’s fantastic mining heritage now partially reclaimed by mother nature.

The route follows the Portreath Tramroad and the former Redruth and Chacewater Railway, both built in the 19th century for the conveyance of copper ore destined for Portreath Harbour.

For the more adventurous amongst you there is the more strenuous Wheal Busy loop which adds two miles to the route and is much tougher than the main track. If you fancy a challenge, look out for the signs!
