Grand Medieval Joust at Pendennis Castle

Saddle up, grab your lance and cheer for the brave knights at the Grand Medieval Joust at Pendennis Castle, Falmouth on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 August 2010.

Pendennis Castle is offering a day of family fun, frolics and thrills for all to enjoy the delights of medieval England. On Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 August join the fearless, the brave and the bold, as English Heritage takes you back through history to experience the sporting events and entertainment of medieval England.

Cheer on your favourite knight, as they compete in mounted skills at arms. Enter the medieval realm and watch as they battle on horseback, in full military armour of the day, in the impressive grounds of Pendennis Castle.

Afterwards, enjoy the hilarious antics of medieval jesters who will keep you entertained with their own special brand of comedy or relax as wandering minstrels serenade you with their musical talents. Visitors will also be left gasping in awe when Raphael Falconry’s graceful birds of prey take to the skies in amazing aerial displays throughout the day.

In addition to experiencing the delights of the Grand Medieval Joust, visitors can explore Pendennis Castle’s 450 year history. Constructed between 1540 and 1545 by King Henry VIII to protect our coastline from France and Spain, visitors will learn how Pendennis Castle played an integral role in protecting Cornwall right up until World War II.
