The St Endellion Summer Festival - held every August in the lovely old church at St Endellion near Port Isaac – will have a Cornish first as its 2011 centrepiece: three concert performances of Wagner’s masterpiece, Die Walkure, featuring Susan Bullock as Brunnhilde and Robert Hayward as Wotan and with some 40 Valkyries instead of the usual mere handful. One of these performances, on August 3, will be at the Hall for Cornwall, to ensure there’s a chance for everyone to hear it. Other concerts will feature Stravinsky’s majestic Symphony of Psalms and candlelit performances of Rachmaninoff’s Vespers. To find out more, visit the festival website.
