Penzance
Scillonian III, the third in a line of ships bearing that name, has carried over 2 million passengers to the islands since she was launched in c1977 by the Prince of Wales. During the voyage, the ship's captain broadcasts a commentary with information about the route and points of interest, and there is a superb exhibition about the islands to occupy most of the journey. As well as navigation charts and a route map, there are large colourful photographs depicting fishing, the flower industry, gig-racing, crafts, beaches, botany and wildlife.
Nearest major road is A30. From A30 follow signs for Penzance town centre. At one way system take left hand lane for car parks and Scillonian ferry.
Nearest station is Island location. From Penzance railway station follow road around the harbour; walk down the second quay on the left following the signs.
