What can be more romantic than dinner overlooking a beach at sunset?

Here in Cornwall you’re spoilt for choice, especially on the north coast where there’s a long sandy beach around nearly every corner. From Bude to Sennen Cove, each individual beach has a café, restaurant or bar offering somewhere to sit and eat whilst the sun sinks slowly into the Atlantic at the end of a perfect day.

But it’s not just the north coast, we have included a couple here on the south side that can be just as impressive on the right night.

The Beach at Bude: Situated above Summerleaze Beach with panoramic views of the sea, this is a popular restaurant and buzzing bar, frequented by both locals and visitors alike. They offer a very informal service on the terrace and in the bar, allowing you the chance to enjoy a relaxed dining experience while the sun sets.

The Wild Café: Colourful, funky and one of the most relaxed places to eat delicious food in Cornwall while enjoying watching the beach, the surfers and the sunsets. The food at Bedruthan's Wild Café is simple and contemporary and driven by the seasons, inspired by specialist Cornish growers, farmers and fishermen.

The Beach Hut: At Watergate Bay you can walk off the sand, straight to your table. This place is rarely quiet, the buzz of conversation rivals the sound of the sea. The view pours in, there’s sand on the floor, and the wrap-around windows make the most of the views over the two mile beach, never better than at sunset, whatever time that might be.

Lewinnick Lodge: Perched high on a cliff to the west of Newquay, drink in the views whilst you dine in the restaurant and feast upon the striking sea through floor to ceiling glass. The ocean views are unrivalled, from Fistral beach to the Atlantic, especially from the terrace.

Old Success Inn: Overlooking the bay where the dolphins play, this traditional Cornish pub is as close to the Atlantic as you can get, with just the road between it and the sea. Dine alfresco on the large terrace or simply stop in for a pint of something cold meticulously crafted by St Austell Brewery.

Meanwhile on the south coast…

Godolphin Arms: Located in Marazion with far-reaching views out over Mount's Bay and across to St Michael's Mount. Try out the new glass and zinc extension, with doors that open out for al fresco dining during the summer months whilst the tide rises and falls between you and the Mount.

Atlantic View Restaurant: Situated on the Lizard Peninsula at Mullion, this is an increasingly popular place to dine. A consistent AA Rosette award-winner, with two rosettes since 2014, their formula for success is to combine the best local ingredients with the flair of chefs to create exceptional food. If you want something less formal, the bistro bar offers cocktails and snacks.
