Lowender Peran, the Festival of the Celts in Kernow, is an annual five day event celebrating the distinctive heritage of Cornwall's traditional music, dance, songs, storytelling and the county’s links Brittany, Ireland, the Isle of Man and Scotland. Lowender Peran is a registered charity set up to encourage recognition of Cornwall’s heritage and Celtic links as a vibrant, living tradition that people of all ages and backgrounds can participate in and enjoy. The festival program includes dance demonstrations and tuition, workshops in Celtic music and singing along with plenty of live performances by bands and soloists from across the Celtic nations.
During the festival you can take part in Celtic dancing, listen to acoustic folk song sessions and attend some Cornish language classes, there’s even a Cornish language karaoke. Listen to some traditional local storytelling and join in the afternoon cabaret and family dance over tea and saffron cake.
