Description

Famed for heroic rescues, and with frontline helicopter Squadrons supporting the Navy across the globe, Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose is home to a variety of military aircraft including Merlin and Sea King helicopters, Hawk Jets, and the new King Air 350 Avengers.

It’s your chance to see behind the scenes of the Fleet Air Arm, the Royal Navy’s flying force on the only day of the year when the public can step into the world of Culdrose and experience the sights, sounds and smells of a working military Naval Air Station.

During the day you can watch some awesome flying displays, meet the heroic Aircrew who fly helicopters around the world, get up close to state-of-the art aircraft and learn all about life in the Royal Navy. Have ago at piloting a helicopter in a flight simulator, watch the Royal Navy Field Gun teams sweat as they battle for supremacy, there’s entertainment by the HM Royal Marines Band and speed and showmanship by the White Helmets Motorcycle Display team. The Royal Navy Raiders Parachute Display Team jump from the skies and in the arena you can witness the agility of the MoD Police Dogs.

Culdrose is one of Europe’s largest helicopter bases and delivers highly capable Helicopter Squadrons specialising in Anti-Submarine Warfare, Anti-Surface Warfare and Airborne Surveillance and Control. Additionally, the base’s ‘Search and Rescue’ Squadron is on constant standby 365-days a year to react to emergencies on land and sea throughout the Southwest region.
