Civil Partnership is a new legal relationship, which can be registered by two people of the same sex. It gives same sex couple the ability to obtain legal recognition for their relationship.
A civil partnership is registered once the couple have signed the civil partnership document in the presence of a registrar and two witnesses. You can arrange a ceremony in addtion to the signing of the legal document if you wish, although this is not requried. Cornwall Registration Service has developed a number of beautiful ceremonies for you to choose from, or you can develop your own. The ceremony can be a very simple one with just a few words spoken or something more eleabourate. There is no additional charge ifyou choose to have a ceremony.
