Legends of the Bay

18 May – 19 May

Legends of the Bay

What is the event all about?
British Kitesurfing Association (BKSA) and the British Stand Up Paddlesurf Assocation (BSUPA) will be collaborating to bring Legends of the Bay to Watergate. Whatever the conditions, spectators are promised a display of beach action.

What happens?
Competitors will have to compete in kitesurfing and stand up paddle boarding. If the conditions are not suitable for one discipline then competitors will be able to compete in the other. Spectators will not be disappointed!

Did you know?
Kitesurfing or kite boarding is an individual sport. It is conducted on open areas of water, which can be shallow or deep, flat or bumpy, in preferably constant winds between 8 -50 knots. The ‘pilot’ aims to fly the kite in a pattern to produce power to pull him/herself along the surface of the water across the wind, following the same basic principles as sailing. There is no motor power involved. The pilot wears a harness to balance his/her weight against the kite. There is no connection between the kite and the board apart from via the pilot.
