What’s it all about?
Taking place across two venues in Cornwall these light weight inflatable boats will be descending on Watergate Bay, Newquay and Pentewan Sands, St Austell for 10 days of international action. Teams from all over the world will be competing for the World Championship crown. If you like thrills and spills this is an event not to be missed. Family Zones and interactive sports will ensure there’s something for everyone!

What happens?
Seven rounds make up the British RYA National Championship series, combining 3 different disciplines of racing which ultimately tests the best in the world. These are; Surf racing; at some of the best UK surf spots, Flat-water circuit racing; where teams work relentlessly to gain that extra mph out of the engine and propeller. The last and most challenging discipline is the Endurance long haul; where teams test their stamina over a minimum of a 60 mile long course!

Saturday 5 October - Pentewan Longhaul Day (2 circuits from Pentewan to Looe Island)

The Extreme Academy will now be hosting the championships from Monday 7 to Wednesday 9 October.

Monday 7 October - Familiarisation day for competitors

Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 October - Race heats

Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October - Racing at Pentewan

How can visitors take part?
It’s a fantastic sport to watch and with a bit of luck Watergate Bay will be throwing up some challenging conditions in the surf for the competitors.Watch the fastest motorised catamarans zoom along the shoreline in two days of high-octane sport. It’s like Formula One racing on water and waves make it even more exciting, so pray for surf!
