Award Winners All!
It’s been a good few months for awards down here with our first two Five Star hotels announced. Both The Headland Hotel at Newquay and The Nare Hotel on the Roseland received the accolade after lots of hard work. If you are looking for a bit of luxury with a sea view, these two should be top of your list.
The Sunday Times announced their top 100 British Hotels recently with the newly opened Harbour Hotel at St Ives gaining the Best Seaside Hotel award. Also in the top 100 were the Carbis Bay Hotel, the Mullion Cove Hotel and the Watergate Bay Hotel. The latter also gained 23rd place in the Conde Nast magazine, Best in UK list.
The Talland Bay Hotel near Looe were runners up in the Best Hotel and B&B section of the Dog Friendly Awards, and also in South East Cornwall, Pentillie Castle gained a Visit England Rose Award in October along with the Pendragon Country House in North Cornwall. There are only 100 of these awarded every year across the accommodation spectrum and they are for businesses who provide outstanding customer service for their customers.
The Cornwall Tourism Awards at the start of November saw the St Michael’s Hotel in Falmouth named Best Large Hotel of the year. Other hotels to get awards included the previously mentioned Headland and Talland Bay, whilst the Falcon Hotel in Bude picked up a bronze award.
Customer service also featured heavily in The Boskerris Hotel at Carbis Bay being awarded top hotel in South West England at the Taste of the West Awards.
We like to think that all Visit Cornwall members offer outstanding service, and at this time of the year I am sure they all deserve an award after getting through another long season. Not all members put themselves up for awards, that doesn’t mean they are not as good as those that have won, but those that we have featured above deserve a cheer, well done guys!
