A Floating Restaurant and so much more...
Here at Blue River Table we are getting ready to start our summer season and with Tethra (our boat) back in the water, all newly varnished, we are very much looking forward to it. Over the past couple of months we have been doing all the winter jobs aboard Tethra, painting, varnishing, servicing and this year even included fitting her with a shiny new engine!
With all the refit jobs done, we get to concentrate on a very creative side of the business…menu development!
We have started on our spring and summer menus, which, apart from the usual testing and tasting in the kitchen, means speaking to local growers to see what they’ll be harvesting in coming weeks and popping into the fishmongers to find out what’s being caught in Cornish waters. The hardest work of all is to work out which wines pair best with the final dishes!
Join us for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner this summer and you’ll be greeted with a glass of bubbly and treated to a freshly prepared feast and tranquil cruise along the beautiful Fal estuary. We also have some exciting collaborations coming up…
A lunch cruise with The Seaweed Institute on the 23rd of May
Ruth and Kerry, who founded the Seaweed institute, will be serving up a delicious tasting menu using different seaweeds. Throughout each dish and between courses they will discuss tides, sustainable harvesting practice and the cultural history of seaweed.
A dinner cruise with The Falmouth Distilling Company on the 24th of June
The very talented trio from the Falmouth Distilling Company will be taking over the Tethra galley and serving up a feast, all paired with their incredible Loveday cocktails. They will be talking about all things gin whilst cocktails are mixed and a delicious four course meal is prepared.
Both the Seaweed Institute and Falmouth Distilling Company are fantastic local businesses and defiantly worth checking out. We are extremely lucky here in Cornwall to be surrounded by inspiring companies that really understand the essence of Cornwall.
Blue River Table is the creation of Charlotte Whyte and Jess Harris who set out on a journey to develop something that incorporated their love of the local waterways, traditional boats and an exploration of fresh food and delicious flavours.
Having spent most of their lives living and working on boats, both in the local area and all over the world they are not only experienced sailors but have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to combining the experience of chartering and cooking.
