November Food Bites
The clocks have gone back, the last golden leaves of autumn have been blown from the trees and Christmas songs are playing in every shop you visit.. it must be November! It's time to dig out the jumpers, light the fire and open a bottle of red wine and eat! Meals should be wholesome, hearty and warming, soups, stews and traditional puddings.
It's a great time to venture out and try those restaurants you have avoided during the summer when they were busy, and before they fill up with Christmas parties! There's also a few special events going on that look very tempting, and helping others....
Shine for ShelterBox at The Godolphin Arms, Marazion
Get together to brighten lives at The Godolphin Arms’ inaugural Shine for ShelterBox Candlelit Feast on Saturday 11th November. As you dine, you'll be raising money to provide light and emergency shelter for families who need it most by supporting ShelterBox, who provide essential relief to people who have lost everything. Every ShelterBox sent to disaster-stricken areas include solar lights that can brighten lives in the darkest hour.
A Caribbean Feast will be created by Head Chef, Nick Eyre. The evening will include a raffle to raise funds for the charity, a talk from a member of ShelterBox who has recently returned from overseas, and live entertainment, generously provided by Slapdash Trio.

Help raise funds for WaterAid
This autumn St Petroc’s Bistro in Padstow will be hosting a month of charity lunches to raise funds for WaterAid, the international charity which transforms the lives of some of the world’s poorest communities by providing access to safe, clean water, sanitation and hygiene. Last year the lunches raised a fantastic £4500 for WaterAid. Enjoy a three course lunch with dishes inspired by Rick Stein's travels for £13.95 plus a £2 cover charge donated straight to the charity. November Chef Night Experience at the Idle Rocks
On Saturday 11th November a special evening will celebrate produce and recipes from some of the UK’s finest regions, as we welcome chefs from highly acclaimed Michelin starred restaurants across the UK.
Gareth Ward of Ynyshir in Wales, Mark Poynton of Alimentum in Cambridge and James Knappett from Bubbledogs and Kitchen Table in London, will join forces with our head chef Guy Owen and his team for one special night. Guests will enjoy an eight course-tasting menu, with each chef presenting two dishes throughout the evening. All courses will incorporate the very best of local and seasonal ingredients, with each chef showcasing their culinary excellence from their region. For more info click here.
A Taste of Morocco on a cold winters day.
On Fridays and Saturdays, the Sands Resort Hotel at Newquay is offering a 6pm Moroccan Spa Experience Session followed by a 2-course dinner in our restaurant, all for £39 per person. These Twilight Sessions are available from 3rd November to 24th November and from 5th January to 3rd February (except 19th & 20th January). This November why not enrol on a course at the Philliegh Way Cookery School? You can learn how to use a BBQ to cook the Christmas turkey, how to bake a selection of French and American breads or just easier ways of cooking simple suppers. Congratulations to all those food and drink providers who were successful at the Cornwall Tourism Awards recently. Amongst Visit Cornwall members who grabbed golds were The Pandora Inn, The Fish House at Newquay and Rick Stein's Cookery School. Silvers went to The Star Castle Restaurant, on the Isles of Scilly, amongst others, whilst both The Gurnard’s Head near Zennor and Amelies at Porthleven were awarded Bronze’s.
