Our pick of dog friendly winter beaches

February is a great time to bring your dog on holiday as many of our beautiful beaches are still accessible before the seasonal dog bans come into power later in the spring. So now is the time to make sure you take advantage of these beaches and let Rover have the run of his life!. Here are some of our favourite beaches in Cornwall that dogs can now enjoy all through the winter time. Feel free to post photos of your dogs on our wonderful winter dog friendly beaches on our Instagram page at @lovecornwalluk

Gwithian, Hayle

With its wonderful dog friendly cafes , Godrevy Beach Cafe and the Rockpool Cafe, and of course the intriguing towans behind the beach, this is a fabulous beach and part of the biggest stretch of sands in the county.

Marazion, Marazion

We love Long Rock, but it is well, a bit rocky, and Marazion is beautiful and boasts the dog friendly Godolphin Arms where you can literally step off the beach and enjoy a hot chocolate while you also drink in the wonderful views over St Michael's Mount.

Lusty Glaze beach, Newquay

Newquay has no shortage of dog friendly beaches all year round, with Fistral and Town beach, but Lusty Glaze with its wonderful restaurant, and beautiful atmosphere is now dog friendly all year round, and every Wednesday its wonderful restaurant is dedicated to dogs, with chef serving up tasty bowls of Terrier-rine for just £3 (alongside a well-behaved owners meal) - with all proceeds going to St Francis Home for Dogs.

Porthminster, St Ives

There was a great deal of acrimony over St Ives debate on whether to ban dogs on the main beaches during the summer months, but now that October is here, dogs can once again run free on the smooth golden sands of Porthminster, Porthgwidden and Porthmeor beaches around the town.

Poldhu, near Mullion

This lovely sandy beach near Mullion is fabulous because it is east facing, and because it has the Poldhu Beach Cafe which is open every day except Flora Day and Christmas Day. The hot chocolate is amazing and they have a beach cleaning club.

Crooklets beach, Bude

Dog lovers in Bude can now venture out onto Crooklets beach near the town, and enjoy a lovely hot chocolate overlooking the surf at Rosie's Kitchen.

Porthcurno beach, Porthcurno

Just beneath the Minnack and close to the Telegraph Museum, (where you can have dogs on the outdoor area of the cafe apparently) is the beautiful and unique Porthcurno, which is historic as they laid the first cross Atlantic cables here, and also very beautiful.
