Riverside Walks in Cornwall

River Camel, Cornwall

Cornwall's South West Coast Path is superb when it comes to walking, we all know that don't we? But how many of you explore inland, along the rivers that cut deep into the countryside?

Here we have put together a selection of walks, some including the South West Coast Path, that use footpaths and lanes running alongside streams, rivers and creeks. They can be done at anytime of the year, in fact we would recommend trying them in the different seasons, as each month the things you see will be different.

1: South of the Helford Walk.

Thatched cottages, tidal creeks and a fortified headland can all be found on this delightful walk on the other side of the Helford River from the usual popular destinations like Trebah and Glendurgan. Info Here

2: Two Streams, Cape Cornwall Walk.

In the far west this walk introduces you to a wealth of industrial history as you wander through World Heritage mining remains. Plus there's fantastic sea views and a chance to have a paddle in the Atlantic if you fancy it? Info Here

3: Another Camel Trail Walk:

Away from the crowds, this walk explores the countryside betwixt Bodmin Moor and the rugged North Coast. Discover the River Camel as it winds its way between water meadows and woodland, before heading into a patchwork of fields and lanes surrounding the lonely church at Advent. Info Here

4: Fowey, Creeks and Coves:

We couldn't ignore this classic mix of wooded creeks, stunning coastline and the delights of the town of Fowey. Steeped in the essence of Daphne du Maurier novels, will you be inspired to write something after walking it? Info Here

5: Tresillian to Malpas Walk:

A gentle walk alongside the wide Tresillian River on the outskirts of Truro. Great for casual birdwatching or just letting the kids enjoy them selves. At the halfway point in Malpas you can always stop for refreshments, if it's all been too much! Info Here

Of course, there are plenty of other wonderful walks along Cornwall's rivers, and we will be adding more as and when we can. in the meantime, get out and enjoy these, we don't think you will be dissapointed.
