Discover ten dog friendly attractions that can be found throughout Cornwall for you and all the family to enjoy.
Healey's Cornish Cyder farm produces spirits, wines, Scrumpy, preserves and ciders. It is a free attraction with lots to keep you entertained throughout the day. You can take a guided tour to learn the art of cider making, join a trailer ride around the fruit orchards, visit the first distillery and combined cellars in Cornwall for 300 years or see some of the friendly farm yard animals. There is a small cost for the guided tour and trailer ride. Your dog is welcome to join you in exploring the shop, visiting their museum, distillery and cellars and they’re even welcome to join you for a tractor ride!
The Lost Gardens of Heligan is Europe's largest restoration project with it now having been tranformed into the mysterious gardens and estate that offer over 200 acres for exploration. There is much to be discovered in the gardens so be sure to look out for the Giant’s Head, Mud Maid and Grey Lady that are all waiting to be discovered along the Woodland Walk. Well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome to the Gardens all year round providing a fantastic place to walk your four legged friend. Please be aware that dogs are not permitted to enter the Heligan Tearoom or Stewardry. Entrance costs are £14.50 for adults and £6.50 for children.
The Minack Theatre is Cornwall's world famous open-air theatre, carved into the granite cliff by Rowena Cade and set in glorious gardens overlooking the spectacular panorama of Porthcurno Bay. Day visitors can explore this spectacular open-air theatre and discover how the theatre was created from a cliffside only eighty years ago. Dogs are allowed in on leads during the day visits as you can take in the extraordinary scenery. However dogs are not allowed (except for guide dogs) during any of the performances. After your visit you can take your dog onto the beautiful Porthcurno beach for a run and a quick dip in the turquoise sea, it is dog friendly beach but a seasonal ban operates from May to September.
Enjoy a family day out at Tamar Valley Donkey Park you can feed and pet the donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs, rabbits and guinea-pigs, you can even take a donkey for a walk. There is also a huge indoor play area for the children to enjoy. There are miniature tractor rides as well as toddler play. They welcome well behaved dogs on leads. Entrance costs are £7.95 for adults and £7.50 for children.
Newlyn Art Gallery has a long history of celebrating contemporary art and have supported the artists that produce it for more than 120 years. Along with the Exchange, a short walk away, they offer a wide and varied programme with exciting new exhibitions on display. There are also many workshops that are put on that can help you to get creative. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at both venues, but may not be allowed into the main gallery spaces for certain exhibitions. Admission costs £2.20.
Find out more about Cornish heritage at Wheal Martyn, the UK's only China Clay museum. Explore the indoor interactive displays telling the story of the men, women and children who lived, worked and played in the shadow of the china clay tips and you can see modern mining in action with a visitor platform overlooking a working China Clay Pit. There is a children's woodland play area and acres of nature trails to enjoy. The woodland area is filled with wild flowers and wildlife that your dog can discover. Dogs leads are welcome throughout the site.
Visit one of Cornwall’s top family attractions, Holywell Bay Fun Park is close to the beach and just 4 miles from Newquay. They provide free entry, free parking and 25 rides/attractions for you to enjoy. You can pay as you play or buy bulk star deals to save you money on the rides. There are attractions for all ages so tha you can choose from riding F1 go karts, drenching dad on the super squirty blaster boats, and making mum mad by getting lost in our magical maze. Dogs are allowed on leads in all of the outdoor areas and there are two dog refreshment stations.
Discover the excitement and nostalgia of steam travel with a journey back in time on the Bodmin & Wenford Railway. It is Cornwall's only full size railway still operated by steam locomotives and gives you the chance to discover Cornwall's railway heritage. Dogs are welcome on the service trains, except in the Bar & Buffet Car (Assistance Dogs excepted) and require a £1.00 ticket . You will need to keep them on the floor and not on the furniture and please ensure that your dog is on a short lead whilst on the platforms or the train. It costs £13.00 for adults and £6 for children to enjoy this fantastic journey.
Trebah offers visitors a year round experience. It is a beautiful wooded 25 acre sub-tropical ravine garden that descends to its own private beach on the delightful Helford River. There are many areas to explore as you can follow the natural spring that drifts by brightly coloured waterside plantings. Dogs are welcome in the garden and on the beach all year round but they have to be on a lead at all time. There are designated doggie tables in Trebah Kitchen, so dog lovers can sit together. Dogs are also welcome on the garden terrace and in the picnic area. Just ask a member of staff which tables are suitable. There are also complementary poop bags available for dog owners.
Adrenalin Quarry provides adventure activities for all of the family. Entrance is free but the activities do cost. Have a go at the Zip, the 490m long and 50m high zipwire, or the Giant Swing that can launch you 170ft over the lake before falling backwards towards the ground. Wild swimming, coasteering and axe throwing are also available alongside the 'Blob' their human catapult. Dogs are welcome on the site as you can enjoy the day beside the lake with a picnic or BBQ that you have brought with you or pre-ordered online from Adrenalin Quarry before spending the day sunbathing on the lawn.
