It’s a time when most of us get to down tools and breathe a sigh of relief for we get an extra 24 hours on our weekend – hurrah! Here’s how you could spend August Bank Holiday weekend…
22nd – 26 August
The whole town of Wadebridge is alive to the sound of music. Pub sessions and street music and dance in abundance make for one of Britain’s finest small festivals, perfect for the Bank Holiday’s last blast of summer. Not only is there an international line up of musicians, there's also dance and instrument workshops, plus children's entertainment.
24th – 26th August
A working vintage steam rally with vintage tractors, cars, motorbikes, military vehicles, commercials and stationary engines, trade stands, craft tent, hot food, bar and children's entertainment. The new site is just off the A38, east of Liskeard and about five miles outside Looe.
The Return of the Secret Gin Garden will pop up once again for a decadent soiree of live music and tantalising beverages. Playing host to headline acts The Magic Numbers and The Brand New Heavies, this year’s event will spill out onto the rolling green hills of the Scorrier House Estate for a captivating day that is set to be bigger and better than ever. Immersing all those involved into a secluded world of enchanting performances including burlesque performances from Tallulah Blue, plus a mixture of other theatrical installations.
An annual chance for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people in Cornwall, their friends and families to get together and celebrate diversity. The day starts with a parade through the streets of Newquay with floats and hundreds of people taking part. Always a spectacular sight, is one of the UK's longest rainbow flags as it flows through the streets with music getting everyone dancing. The day continues with live music, stalls and entertainment, culminating in the Moonbow Party, which promises to be an inclusive and exciting night where you can let you hair down and party through the evening and into the night.
