Truro City of Lights
Here's a lovely little film of Truro's "City of Lights" a procession that marks the start of a sparkling Christmas season in Cornwall. Artists, children and community groups from across Truro and beyond combine paper, withy and their imaginations to create stunning lanterns. The event sees Truro’s cobbled streets lit up by a magical parade of dazzling lanterns.
Now in its 18th year the annual festivities attract around 25,000 people to see the creative collaboration of art, music, dance and light. Every year the procession has a different theme and is escorted by feast of music and dance including samba, brass bands and pipes & drums. In advance of the procession, there is music throughout the city including performances by school groups and the festivities continue after the procession with more outdoor music performances at various locations.
