There’s also an on-site shop, beachside restaurant, tennis courts, beach playground, laundrette and takeaway.
Pentewan Sands Holiday Park is situated on its own private beach, with half a mile of golden sand in a quiet, sheltered bay close to Mevagissey. Guests can enjoy a number of water sports activities under the expert eye of their resident watersports expert, including Kayaking, Surfing, Sailing, Water Skiing, Windsurfing and Paddleboarding. Immaculately clean Holiday Homes come as standard and there are modern toilets and lovely warm showers to ensure campers get the best start to their day. As well as a range of locally sourced food and other practical items, the on-site shop also sells freshly baked croissants and stocks all the essentials for your stay.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan are close by, along with the Eden Project. A short walk will take you to Mevagissey, a characterful fishing village. It's also worth checking out Charlestown on the other side of St Austell, especially if you enjoyed Poldark, as much of the BBC series was filmed in the historic harbour. Sightseeing over, head back to the park to relax – and enjoy.

Celebrating 75 years!!
One of Cornwall’s best-loved holiday parks is already making preparations for next year when it will celebrate a major milestone anniversary after successfully establishing itself as a staple destination for holidaymakers visiting the south coast.
Family-owned Pentewan Sands first opened its doors almost three quarters of a century ago, with the five-star holiday park, based in an unbeatable location on its own, private beach overlooking Mevagissey Bay, due to mark its 75th anniversary in 2020.
John Tremayne Willis, Owner and Director of both Pentewan Sands Holiday Park and Heligan Caravan and Camping Park, said: “Both sites have been part of our family for almost three-quarters of a century, and, for us, that’s the draw. We are an independent, family-owned business, and our parks have a huge focus on being family-friendly, where everyone is welcome. I think that’s why people return time and time again, year after year, wanting to spend a summer with us in our own slice of paradise.
“Pentewan and Heligan are both in stunning locations, completely individual, offering something that little bit different for guests visiting Cornwall.”
Located between St Austell and Mevagissey, Pentewan was once home to a thriving harbour. The harbour fell into decline during the 1940s however, and a decision was made to transform the beautiful Pentewan Sands into a holiday destination.
The park was the brainchild of Air Marshal Sir John Tremayne, his World War One air force observer Sir Victor Sasson and submariner Cecil Malleson VC. Incorporated on 5 April 1945, the trio set out to welcome holidaymakers to their paradise by the sea and the holiday park opened later that year.
Situated on a privately-owned beach with unparalleled views of the beautiful Mevagissey Bay, it isn’t hard to see why Pentewan Sands was an instant success.
Almost 75 years on, the five-star holiday park is still under the ownership of the Tremayne/Willis family, relatives of the original founder Sir John Tremayne.
New modern amenities block opens at award-winning Cornish holiday park
A top-quality new amenities block featuring modern underfloor heating has just opened for campers at Cornwall’s award-winning Pentewan Sands Holiday Park.
The block has been specially designed for the resort in Mevagissey Bay by Cornwall-based architects, The Bazeley Partnership, and its design reflects the high standards of the five-star holiday park.
Pentewan Sands offers 128 holiday homes in addition to well-maintained grass pitches for camping, caravans and motor homes. Most homes enjoy stunning sea views.
Already in use by campers at the park, the new facilities replace an outdated toilet and shower block and are fitted with solar panels to boost the park’s eco-friendly credentials. Natural ventilation and daylight is provided by high-level glazing around the building.
Nicole Murray, Marketing and Sales Manager for Pentewan Sands Holiday Park, said: “Our new toilet block is bang up to date with modern facilities as well as being eco-friendly. The underfloor heating will be more comfortable for guests, particularly during the colder months, and the PV solar panels will not only generate renewable energy to help power the toilet block, but will also help to power the park itself.
“We hope that our fantastic new amenities space will be welcomed and used by families for years to come.”
The changing and amenities facility includes four private family rooms and two accessible family rooms, which are each equipped with a toilet, basin and a walk-in shower, as well as male and female changing areas, each with three large showers, toilet facilities, changing benches and mirrors.
There are also two external showers and a washing up area to the rear. The new toilet block joins a number of other high quality amenities blocks situated around the park.
