Cotna Eco Retreat
A unique combination of eco accommodation with great food, growing and learning experiences in a beautiful and magical valley.
Self-catering accommodation includes:
- boutique style yurts amongst the willow
- cosy shepherd’s hut down by the stream
- rustic strawbale studio overlooking the orchard
The Location – a hidden valley overlooking apple orchards (try our juice and cider!), fruit & veg gardens (wander and pick your own, or enjoy our delicious hampers), with streams and woodland for you & your children to run wild! Our local pub & village shop are a 10-minute walk up our track and a short walk, ride or drive to the coast. We are surrounded by some of the most beautiful coastline in Cornwall, close to dog friendly beaches. Gorran is a traditional Cornish village that people return to year after year for its local sense of community, family friendly beach and coastal path. We’re just down the road from The Lost Gardens of Heligan and close to The Eden Project.
The Accommodation – the yurts & strawbale studio provide space for 2-5 people with woodburners; cooking facilities & equipment; dining table; double bed & single mattresses. They are tastefully decorated with Turkish & Mongolian kiilims, Indian silks & organic Cornish linen. The shepherd’s hut has space for 1-3 people (cosy like peas in a pod!) has a kitchen shed over the stream and its own little fire-pit garden.
The facilities – are well considered and detailed for everything we think you will need. We do our very best to make your stay comfortable with hot showers & posh compost loos and provide eco washing products and recycling facilities.
The Cotna Experience – we are much more than just a yurt farm! We won the Cornwall Sustainability Award for Best Contribution to Land Management & Environmental Growth in 2016, reflecting our ethos of living in harmony with the land and creating an oasis to regenerate wildlife diversity.
The Food – we provide delicious home-produced food from our organic gardens and new farmhouse kitchen. This includes:
- breakfast hampers with fresh sourdough, eggs, juice & preserves
- evening meal hampers: Italian, Indian & Middle Eastern style
- or pick your own veg to go with your BBQ’s
The Courses – We thrive on the link between what’s growing around us and getting wildly creative in our wonderful new farmhouse kitchen:
- wild food foraging
- seasonal cooking
- sourdough read-making
- no-dig gardening
Connecting Body and Earth – complementary treatments are available in our hobbit style roundhouse, a great way to unwind, reconnect and ground yourself
- full body massage
- hot stones massage
Walk Guide – we are surrounded by beautiful scenery and the best way to experience it is on foot. We have created a detailed guide to 9 local walks that will inspire you to get your boots on and explore!
