Friendly, award winning hotel on the tranquil island of Bryher

Hell Bay is tucked away in a secluded cove facing the Atlantic Ocean on the beautiful, rugged island of Bryher and offers families and couples a friendly and private oasis to relax and spend quality time together and to enjoy the wild, natural delights of Bryher and the other islands of Scilly. Hell Bay is the highest rated hotel and restaurant on the Isles of Scilly, with three AA rosettes.

Set in our own grounds, we have twenty five rooms and suites, all beautifully appointed with Lloyd Loom furniture and Malabar fabrics. Rooms and public spaces also boast works by some of Cornwall’s leading artists. We have a large terrace, where you can enjoy a drink or a long leisurely lunch whilst taking in the extraordinary sea views. Our bar and restaurant menus include a wide selection of local and seasonal food. There is a heated outside swimming pool and tennis court, and we even have our own chickens should you fancy collecting your breakfast eggs in the morning.

Bryher is the smallest of the inhabited islands of Scilly, measuring only about half a square mile. There are a couple of dozen houses dotted around, the Fraggle Rock bar and a small shop. The island is virtually traffic free and is criss-crossed with paths and tracks that take you up over the grassy and rocky knolls and to the deserted sandy beaches that make up much of the coastline. Bryher’s closest neighbour is the island of Tresco, where you can find the famous Abbey Garden in addition to a pub, delicatessen and restaurant. Tresco is owned by the Dorrien Smith family, who also own Hell Bay.

Although the hotel has a friendly and informal atmosphere, we pride ourselves on our high service levels and attention to detail. We are here to help you make the most of your time with us, whether you spend your day within the hotel grounds or opt for activities elsewhere on Bryher or on neighbouring islands.
