Eating and Drinking
When deciding where to eat in Bude, our Coachman’s Bar & Grill offers the perfect place to find great food, relax and unwind all day.
Our friendly team will be pleased to help you choose from our extensive Gin, Cocktail & Wine menu and food is available all day. To the front of the hotel there is a terrace with uninterrupted views over the Bude Canal & Inner Harbour. This is a great place to dine al fresco sheltered under the canopy and creates a magical continental atmosphere in the summer. The menu has been created by Peter Gorton, Master Chef of Great Britain, and our Head Chef Aaron Vanstone. Aaron describes his menu as “classic dishes mixed with some wild cards that showcase our ingredients & passion…”. We source all our ingredients from local suppliers whenever possible.
Lord Tennyson Restaurant is open evenings and for Sunday lunch and offers a more refined setting for those seeking a little added luxury.
Established in 1798, the Falcon Hotel is the oldest coaching hotel in North Cornwall.
The Falcon began as a lodging house to provide accommodation for the captains of vessels trading along the shores of North Cornwall or sheltering from Atlantic storms.
In 1823 construction work was completed on the Bude Canal. It was used mainly to transport beach sand to farms inland, where it made excellent fertiliser. Stimulated by this new business, the old lodging became the Falcon Crest Inn. And three years later, in 1826, it was further extended and named the Falcon Hotel.
For seven generations the Brendon Family, and their wonderful team, have provided ‘The Warmest Welcome in the West’.
