Award winning hotel for adults in Mawgan Porth

The Scarlet is a 37 bedroom hotel for adults located in Mawgan Porth, near Newquay. Delicious locally sourced food and the best Ayurvedic inspired spa you can imagine.

A place where you can eat, dream and play in peace, influenced only by the natural rhythms of Mother Nature, The Scarlet in Cornwall is an individual retreat for all seasons where the owners don't stand on ceremony and guests make themselves at home. Distinctly a hotel in Cornwall, the hotel wants to reflect and embrace the unique location, blurring the boundaries between indoors and out. The hotel is a balance of light, airy spaces with cosy, private areas, allowing you to mix with our other guests or enjoy a bit of peace and solitude.

The restaurant

The restaurant menus are simple yet bursting with flavour, changing daily to ensure that full use is made of what is at its local, seasonal best, whilst remaining reasonably priced. Breakfast and lunch are relaxed and served in the restaurant or the terrace. For dinner a shot of glamour is added to both the menu and the atmosphere, ensuring a memorable evening whether a romantic dinner à deux, or a long-overdue catch up with friends.

The spa

The spa has luxury tented rooms lit by lanterns and is essentially a quiet, almost spiritual place. The relaxation area has cocoon-like pods swinging from the ceiling where you can drift away following your treatment. There is a big squishy relaxation space where you can chill out and listen to the waves crashing on the beach below. Or you might want to slather yourself in rich mineral mud within our rhassoul, experience a tradtional rubdown in the hammam or try your hand at massage. Outside, a log fired hot tub invites you to stargaze or storm watch and a natural chemical-free pool, cleaned by reeds, beckons you to take a dip.
