OVERVIEW

4 Bideford Mews is a two bedroom cottage which can accommodate 4 - 6 with a sofa-bed in the sitting room, though it's also a great bolt-hole for couples or anyone wanting to get away on their own - and its affordability makes this a common choice.

The cottage is ideally located for those who want to be near the facilities of Bude, with its beautiful beaches, canal, leisure activities, great variety of cafes, restaurants and various shops, but who prefer a place to stay a step away from the bustle of the small but popular Seaside Town.

Stratton, by the River Neet or Strat, is a peaceful village (once an important town) of great historic interest, on the outskirts of Bude.

Stratton, Bude and the villages around are set in beautiful countryside, and the cliff-top walks of the South West Coast Path take in some spectacular scenery.

One of the key attractions of the cottage's location is of course its proximity to the North Cornwall Coast and the glorious beaches and other attractions of Bude.

But when you decide to stay in the Mews Cottage, you're opting for a break that offers the best of all worlds.

Within easy reach of all the amenities, activities, festivals and beaches, you will be able to relax away from the bustle of Bude in the peace and quiet of Stratton, where the cottage is situated in the private courtyard that is Bideford Mews.

Many visitors have commented on the restful atmosphere of the cottage, and become regulars.

People find our affordability and flexibility - we offer short breaks (as short as 2 nights!) all year round, frequent 'last minute' reductions and don't have a set changeover day - all invaluable in these difficult times. We even offer concessions and don't charge for dogs, and will do our best to accommodate you as needed.

THE ACCOMMODATION

The cottage is No 4 in a mews of five cottages converted from the outbuildings of the old 'Bideford Inn' and accessed from the street through a metal gateway.

The downstairs living area is open plan; at one end is a two-seater settee, a three-seater settee (which is also a sofa bed) and a comfy upright armchair for those who prefer them, together with a smart TV. At the other there's a dining table and chairs, with a fully equipped Kitchen area off.

Upstairs is a bathroom - loo, basin and bath with shower over, a small double bedroom with a Double Bed, and a larger double bedroom with a King Size Bed.

STRATTON

The village of STRATTON is well worth taking a stroll around - it has many buildings of historic and architectural interest including the Church and the former Court House. There is a lovely short circular walk which takes in the leafy river walk, some historic buildings and the Drovers Way (see Stratton Town Trail and the conservation area report above) - ideal for walking the dog.

SEASIDE TOWN OF BUDE

BUDE is a little over a mile; a half-hour (footpath) walk or short cycle, a 10 min bus ride, or less than 5 mins by car.

The seaside town of Bude is celebrated for its two large beautiful beaches, one of which is dog-friendly all year round; famous Sea Pool; rowing boats and pedaloes for hire on the Bude Canal; a canal-side walk which runs from the unique Sea Lock Gates at the beach and ends at a Weir, Cafe and Nature Reserve; shops, cafes and the Library along the Canal's attractive Wharf; the River Strat/Neet; a huge variety of places to eat and drink, and it is also one of those rare towns that has kept an interesting range of high street shops.

Despite punching well above its weight in activities and amenties, Bude retains the charm of a popular Victorian Seaside Resort, as well as some preserved features of its former small scale, but significant, industrial heritage.

Walking inland, the Seaside and Town rise gently to the undulating countryside of the Downs.

Bude has its own Folk Festival, Jazz Festival and Literary Festival. It also hosts events such as Food Festivals, and has a regular Farmer's Market.
