Lower Trengale Holiday Cottages
Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the four lovely barn convertsion cottages at Lower Trengale have immediate access to six acres of grounds with wonderful views on all sides. The area is a paradise for walkers and nature lovers alike and an ideal base for exploring the main attractions in Cornwall.
Lower Trengale Holiday Cottages are located a mile from the tranquil village of St Neot where there is a village shop, church and pub. Close by are the wedding venues of Trevenna and Carnglaze Caverns. The wild expanse of Bodmin Moor with its ancient and industrial archeology and mining heritage lies about 1.5 miles to the north and there are some lovely walks close by at Golitha Falls and at the Hurlers Bronze Age stone circle at Minions.
For the more serious walker, there is the circular 60 mile Copper Trail around Bodmin Moor. The South West Coast Path offers stunning sea views and coastal scenery from Looe to Fowey in one direction and towards the sandy beaches of Seaton and Whitsand Bay in the other.
Further afield the Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are a 30 minute drive and also within easy reach are the National Trust houses and gardens at Lanhydrock and Cotehele. The rugged north Cornish coast with Padstow, Rock and Port Isaac (of Doc Martin fame) are a similar distance from Lower Trengale.
You are most welcome to bring your well behaved dogs who will be well catered for with local footpaths, Bodmin Moor and nearby beaches. Lower Trengale is an ideal base for couples, families or larger groups of families or friends.
Each cottage has been beautifully restored and retains many original features. All have wood burners, fully fitted kitchens with dishwashers and microwaves. Dill, Sage and Thyme cottages have small private gardens with patio area, garden furniture and BBQ in season. Lavender Cottage has a larger garden with views down the valley. It too has a BBQ and seating areas. There is an outdoor play area with trampoline and swings and indoor games room with pool and table-tennis tables. Relax and enjoy roaming the grounds to find a peaceful perch to enjoy the views by our small lake or in the orchard and woodland areas. You will find secluded areas to enjoy a sundowner or romantic picnic.
A cream tea awaits you on your arrival and you are sure of a warm welcome from Mike - a vet of 35 years and his wife Kay (who live on site in the farmhouse) along with their much loved pets - Darcy the Border Terrier,Ruby the Labador,the cats Diamond and Jubilee and their Lipizzaner pony called Tempo not forgetting Bob and Marley the sheep and Pumba and Hatty the pygmy goats-a real motley crew!!!
Car parking is right outside all the cottages, the path to Dill slopes up gently, whilst Sage, Thyme and Lavender paths slope gently down, all are tarmac. The paths to Dill,Sage and Thyme are about seven paces long. The path to Lavender slopes gntly downwards and is about thirty paces long.We have covered storage available for bikes on site.
Lower Trengale farm holiday cottages were created in 90’s by converting barns into individual cottages. They are all, with the exception, of Lavender, what are known as upside down, that is the bedrooms are primarily downstairs.
All the cottages have steps going up into the property, none have an inside floor area that is without steps to access bedrooms and bathrooms, either a full flight down or, as is the case with Thyme, two steps down to a bedroom and then three steps down to an en-suite shower/wc.
All lounge areas and bedrooms are carpeted, all kitchens and bathrooms have hard floors of either tiles or laminate flooring.
You enter the cottage up two steps and through a stable door into a tiled hall area and the stairs to the bedrooms plus a door to the lounge and kitchen. The lounge and kitchen are all on one level and open plan. The kitchen area has a laminate floor, the lounge area is carpeted. There are no steps on the upper floor in the cottage. Access to the lower floor and bedrooms is by a regular staircase with rail on the left hand side when descending.
Dill sleeps three with both bedrooms downstairs, one double with adequate access both sides of the bed and one single bedroom with access to one side of the bed.
The bathroom has a roll top bath that is 68cm above floor level, a small step 20cm high is situated in the bathroom at all times. There is a shower mixer tap on the bath but there is no shower fitment on the wall. There are no steps on the lower floor of the cottage.
You enter the cottage up one step and through a stable door into the tiled hall area, this leads via one step into the lounge kitchen area and one double bedroom, all these areas are on the same level. The lounge is carpeted and the kitchen has a laminate floor.
Stairs lead down to the lower floor and the bedrooms and bathrooms, these stairs have a left turn of ninety degrees half way down and a hand rail on the right when descending.
At the bottom of the stairs is a door to the bathroom which has a standard size, toilet and basin with a tiled floor, the bath has a mixer shower attachment, there is no over the bath shower.
There is also the door to the twin bedroom which takes you via a small hall to another door and a small step down to the bedroom. The twin beds have access in between the beds and down one side of one bed. Via a sliding door from this bedroom is the ensuite shower room, it has a shower (no seat) small basin and toilet, the floor is tiled.
You enter the cottage up two steps and through a stable door into a tiled hall area, this lead into the carpeted lounge area via a small step. The kitchen has a laminated floor and is on the same level, through the kitchen and down two steep steps is the upper level double bedroom, this has via a further three steep steps an ensuite shower (no seat) and toilet.
From the lounge area steps lead down to the lower floor, the steps have a ninety degree turn near the bottom and a handrail on the right when descending. Off the lower hallway are three bedrooms and a bathroom. The first single bedroom is accessed via a sliding door and has a single bed with access down one side only. The second single is accessed via a small step down, the bed has
access on one side, off this bedroom though a door up a small step is an ensuite large shower (no seat) toilet, and basin, the floor is tiled.
The bathroom off the hallway has a roll top bath the top of which is 62cm above the ground. The double bedroom has access both sides of the bed of about 45cm and is the final room off the lower hall.
You enter from the garden of Lavender cottage through a French door into the carpeted lounge with the adjoining dining/kitchen area beyond(laminate flooring). There is a door from the lounge to the hall(carpeted) from which further doors lead to a bathroom (laminate flooring) with regular bath with over the bath shower, basin and toilet,and a twin bedded room (laminate flooring).From the hall there are stairs leading to the upstairs bedrooms,the stairs have a ninety degree turn six steps up and a handrail on the left as you ascend.Upstairs there are two bedrooms, the first is a double room and has an ensuite (tiled floor) shower (no seat) wc, the other is a double room(king size) also with ensuite (tiled floor) shower (no seat) with wc and hand basin.
The laundry room is in the courtyard (tarmac) and has a tiled floor with one internal step. The games room is also off the courtyard and has one internal step into the painted concrete floor.
