It is listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 and as such is a truly unique and ancient place which has kept its special character.
The beautifully appointed barns and farmhouse are individually furnished to a very high standard and each has its own character. Their outlook is over unspoilt countryside and most have views down into the private woodland walk. With special features in the woods such as the landing by the stream it is the perfect place to relax and watch wildlife. There is a Nature Diary board upon which visitors are encouraged to add their sightings. In the summer it is home to the rare and beautiful silver washed fritillary butterfly as well as its year round inhabitants such as red deer, badgers and barn owls.
Well behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement and receive their own welcome pack upon arrival. Many nearby beaches are dog friendly including Talland, Seaton, Downderry and the beautiful and secluded National Trust beach Lansallos Cove. There is also super links to access the incredible South West Coast Path perfect for walking enthusiasts.
Facilities at Old Lanwarnick include the Hot Tub Barn which is available for all guests to use - the Old Farmhouse has its own Hot Tub. There is also a mini gym containing a cross trainer, exercise bikes and a vibro plate for guests who like to keep fit whilst on holiday - or just to help work off those legendary cream teas!
The Pamper Room is home to a range of holistic therapies including massages, facials and shiatsu which can be pre-booked before your stay. We can also arrange extra treats for you such as a Champagne Breakfast to your door or a Romantic Celebration package that awaits your arrival and sets the tone for a really special break. We also dress cottages for birthdays and anniversaries and can provide sumptuous locally made cakes for every occasion. Our Pavilion on the Hill, new in 2015, is a wonderful place to relax or enjoy a glass of wine or alfresco dining whilst admiring the stunning view. Our cosy cottages for two are popular with honeymooners whilst our larger properties are ideal for families or groups of friends to holiday together. There are many wonderful places to visit within 10 minutes drive such as the fishing villages of Looe, Polperro and Fowey (via Bodinnick ferry) and the Carnglaze Caverns. A little further afield is Bodmin, the ancient capital of Cornwall, where you can find Bodmin Jail, as seen in Poldark, and the Bodmin Steam Railway. Nearby is the National Trust estate of Lanhydrock. Set in hundreds of acres of old parkland there are numerous picturesque walks and cycle rides. Lanhydrock House contains the best example of a Victorian kitchen in the UK as well as many rooms dressed as if the Victorian family and their servants were still in residence. Within half an hour's drive are the world famous magical Lost Gardens of Heligan and the huge biospheres of the Eden Project. Both attractions have regular activities for children and are great family days out, the cafe at the Lost Gardens of Heligan is particularly recommended. Old Lanwarnick is an idyllic place to holiday whether you wish to relax and chill out or explore the many attractions nearby.
