“An unpretentious home from home” is how one of the first families to stay here described this house and to prove they enjoyed their stay they have returned five times!
Away from all traffic and noise, Penhayl, a large two-bedroomed house, sits on the edge of a Site of Special Scientific Interest, close to the South West Coast Path, adjacent to Porth Kidney Sands and the West Cornwall Golf Club. There is ample private driveway parking and a garage attached to the house. It features a well-furnished lounge with three windows overlooking the tidal estuary, for which a telescope and binoculars are provided for guests’ use. For leisure activities, the lounge has a HD TV with freeview, a DVD Recorder/Player, a DAB radio/CD player with MP3 connection, books, maps, guides and games.
Penhayl’s unfenced garden has a sheltered secluded lawn with clothes line, portable charcoal BBQ, garden furniture, and patio. On the seaward side there is a steep deliberately overgrown embankment which is a wildlife habitat where badgers, foxes and rabbits roam and regularly visit the lawn in the evenings. Pygmy shrews also live in this habitat. There is space in the garage for a small family car, and to store bicycles and golf trollies.
Due to the open layout of the grounds children under the age of 5 years are not accepted. A detailed Access Statement is available on www.penhayl-cottage-cornwall.co.uk. On request, it can be supplied in other languages.
Both the grounds and the house are NO Smoking areas.
We cannot accept pets due to the open nature of the habitat. We do accept controlled registered Special Assistance dogs.
The large master bedroom has a king-size bed, a dressing room, and an en-suite bathroom with a liberty bath. The twin bedroom has an adjacent bathroom fitted with a separate bath and a double size shower. Clock radios with ipod docking stations, and flat screen TVs are in each bedroom. All bed linen, kitchen and bathroom towels are supplied.
A spacious kitchen with hatch to dining area is fitted with twin ovens/hob cooker, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, electric casserole “slow“ pot, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and separate freezer. There are two electronic laptop-size safes and wi-fi is available throughout the house.
The owners are able to offer exceptional value because they market, maintain and prepare the house themselves. They will use their professional knowledge of Cornwall to supply you with tailor-made information in English or German to suit your own individual interests.
