Discover The Wellington
Originally known as the Bos Castle Hotel, the hotel was renamed in 1852 in honour of the “Iron Duke”, the Duke Of Wellington. Past guests have included royalty and celebrities such as King Edward VII, Sir Henry Irving, Guy Gibson and Thomas Hardy. Today, everyone is welcome at The Wellington – you, your loved one, your family and even your dog.
- Bedrooms are traditional yet equipped to meet the needs of the modern world
- Food is locally sourced and freshly prepared
- Lounge where you can take morning coffee, afternoon tea or just unwind with a good book
- The Wellington adopts a sustainable and responsible approach, continually seeking to reduce the impact on the environment
- The Long Bar is a traditional pub serving real ales and fantastic pub food. With beamed ceilings and an open fire, it’s a great place to enjoy a drink, a snack or a full meal. You can sit at the bar or at one of many tables either in the bar area or in the Minstrels’ Gallery.
- The restaurant menu reflects a mix of modern and traditional British cuisine and is set in a beautifully refurbished Georgian dining room
- The hotel is set in 10 acres of woodland that extend up the valley and on to the village at the top of the hill
- At the front of the hotel, there is a small terrace that catches the evening sun and is a lovely place to enjoy an early evening drink
- Behind the hotel is the beer garden that can be reached through the Long Bar
