Pedn Olva Hotel

Pedn Olva Hotel has breath-taking views of St Ives and the coast

St Ives occupies a special place in the hearts of all who have walked its quaint, cobbled streets. What better place to immerse yourself in this coastal gem than at the Pedn Olva, right on the water’s edge?

This charming hotel is enviably positioned 30-feet above sea level on blue-black granite rocks. Its name translates to ‘on the headland’, an apt description of the awaiting vista. A view from one of its many sea-facing windows takes an ever-changing sweep of the ancient town and harbour, frequented by the coming and going of fishing boats.

There are 30 distinctive bedrooms with gorgeous ocean outlooks and wonderfully contemporary interiors. Some are dog-friendly, so canine companions needn’t miss out on your coastal adventures.

Throughout the year, the Pedn Olva offers a haven for watching cosy winter storms in front of an open fire and gazing at dolphins and seals dancing in the bay.

Outside, the outdoor heated swimming pool provides the perfect spot for relaxation. The restaurant, meanwhile, complete with bar and terraces, serves a sumptuous menu crafted from fresh, locally-sourced produce that never fails to impress. Pair your choice with one of St Austell Brewery’s award-winning beers.

The town itself has a wealth of things to see and do. Among the highlights are its many beaches; from the surfer’s paradise of Porthmeor to the sheltered sands of Porthgwidden, a favourite with families. The likes of Penzance and the Minack Theatre lie within striking distance.

Such a superb hotel, great cosy, comfortable rooms, stunning views of the coastline. We saw dolphins in the bay. Great option if you want to be spoilt in St Ives and you have a dog. We received a doggie gift of treats, dog poo bags, beef drink and dog bowls for the room! Humans are treated well too, comfortable room, superb tea and coffee, I swapped the Nespresso coffee pods for decaffeinated with ease. Great to have a coffee machine in the room! Our room opened directly onto the terrace with an exit to the beach great for our dog. We could take the dog into the restaurant whilst we had our meals. Everyone friendly, great experience in a superb spot in Cornwall and it wasn't busy either!
