Press release: 16 July 2013

Visit Cornwall, the Cornwall Development Company tourism service, is doing its bit to keep Cornwall special with a litter pick timed to coincide with the start of the summer holidays.

Organised in partnership with Clean Cornwall and with the support of the Cornwall Development Company, the volunteer clean sweep will rid the area around the Truro viaduct of rubbish in time for Cornwall’s main visitor period.

Over 100 colleagues from Cornwall Development Company have been invited to take part in the 23rd July event and among those filling black bags will be Malcolm Bell, the Head of Visit Cornwall, who will be joined by Lady Mary Holborrow, Chairman of the Clean Cornwall partnership.
Malcolm Bell comments: “As a company we shout about the beauty of Cornwall and encourage people to visit so it seems only right that we do our bit keep Cornwall special. I have always held the view that litter is a true sign of how much we care about where we live and I would urge businesses to follow in our footsteps and support the Clean Cornwall campaign – a quality litter free environment is good business and their customers”.

Clean Cornwall brings together backing from businesses, charities, community groups and Cornwall Council and every year thousands of people get involved in clean-up activities. So far more than 800 community ‘clean up’ events across Cornwall have been coordinated.
