Visit Cornwall, the official tourist board for Cornwall, has been announced as a triple finalist in the acclaimed Chartered Institute of Marketing, Marketing Excellence Awards 2012. 

Recognised for its digital marketing, the Cornwall Development Company tourism service has achieved finalist status for its innovative website as well as for its social media marketing.

The online visitor guide, www.visitcornwall.com, was re-launched earlier this year and with a unique ‘Customise your visit’ tool has won Visit Cornwall a place among the finalists in the Digital Marketing Campaign category as well as for Best Public Sector. These award short-listings come in partnership with digital marketing agency, Nameless, who designed and built the website with Visit Cornwall.

Visit Cornwall is also battling it out in the Social Media Marketing Campaign category for its social video campaign which inspires customers to visit Cornwall using digital postcard videos.

Increasingly acknowledged by the UK government as the voice of marketing, The Chartered Institute of Marketing set standards within the industry and are the first port of call for marketing information, knowledge and insight.

“The awards have been created to award those who truly practise marketing excellence, and once again it is great to see Visit Cornwall and Cornwall being acknowledged alongside some top brands.”

To be recognised in three categories is outstanding and shows that Cornwall is leading the way in destination marketing.”

The three CIM finalist placings complete a triumphant year for Visit Cornwall’s marketing activity having already achieved multiple award success for its website.  As well as being crowned Best Visitor Guide Website in the British Travel Awards 2012 and Best Tourist Board Site in the UK TravelMole Web Awards 2012, www.visitcornwall.com was shortlisted in the British Interactive Media Awards (BIMA) 2012.

The winners of the CIM Marketing Excellence Awards 2012 will be announced on 6th March 2013 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
