Amélies, Porthleven is a family-owned restaurant and wedding venue located on the harbourside in Porthleven. They serve fabulous seafood and more cooked in their wood-fired oven.
In 2016 Amélies won the Best Cornish Sunday Roast at the Cornwall Life Food & Drink Awards and were Highly Commended in the Best Restaurant Category at the Cornwall Tourism Awards. They were also featured in The Times Newspaper’s Top 20 places to Eat Seafood by the Sea and named as Coast Magazine’s Cool Cafe for May. In 2015 we featured on Alex Polizzi’s Chefs on Trial on BBC 2.
Amélies wholly supports our local fishermen to eliminate food miles, and so they can serve the freshest fish and know exactly where it’s come from. They buy fish from the fishermen in Porthleven and Newlyn harbours, caught in Mount’s Bay right outside the restaurant.
You’ll find an informal bistro. Enjoy a sumptuous seafood lunch, a light bite and a coffee or a glass of fizz on the restaurant terrace as you watch the world go by. Or bring the family (and the dog) and tuck in to fantastic fish and shellfish sharing platters. The Times didn’t rate this little restaurant as one of the best places in the UK to eat seafood by the sea for nothing.
Tuck into seafood fresh off the boat, share a romantic steak dinner or treat the family to a wood-fired pizza. When the sun sets the tealights are lit and Amélies is transformed into a relaxed and intimate restaurant on the Porthleven waterfront.
At Amélies they’re passionate about food and about music. They have a baby grand piano in the restaurant and you’ll often find a talented guest providing impromptu entertainment.
They also run their Summers Music Sessions from May to July and special evenings throughout the year where you’ll find fabulous artists playing at what has become a respected music venue. With a house band, and guests such as Tina May and Kai Hoffman performing here, Amélies is fast becoming a mini Cornish Ronnie Scotts.
Our childen’s menu was created by the owner’s 6-year-old daughter, after whom the restaurant is named. It offers tastes like squid and moules mariniere alongside pizza and chips.
The restaurant has plenty of high chairs, a changing table and lego and colouring pencils to keep the little ones entertained.
