Meet the team

Visit Cornwall’s team comes with a wealth of experience and competencies within the tourism industry, and collectively they promote destination Cornwall and its diverse tourism offer.

Following a thorough review of Visit Cornwall’s prioritites in 2017, the dominant role of visitcornwall.com for visitors, both pre and during stay, has been heightened, and our  business model has been reviewed to reflect these latest developments. A focus on the website usability to ensure it drives more traffic and enquiries/bookings to members is priority. This has resulted in a revision to the team structure, so for the eagle-eyed out there, you will notice some new job titles, new people in the team structure below.

With this all in mind, take a peek behind the scenes of Visit Cornwall and meet the people responsible for everything from keeping the website firing to getting the media talking about destination Cornwall.

Malcolm Bell - Chief Executive & Marketing Director

Synonymous with Cornwall tourism, there isn't a lot that Malcolm doesn't know about the industry. Having overseen the transformation of Visit Cornwall into a Community Interest Company, he is now at the helm of Visit Cornwall’s future as a private enterprise and is responsible for overseeing the vision, marketing strategy and delivery of the company. A passionate brand ambassador for destination Cornwall, Malcolm is a key spokesperson and represents and lobbies for the best interests of tourism in Cornwall, as well as sitting on national advisory boards. Malcolm is also on the Board of Governors for Cornwall College, South West Lakes Trust, the Cornwall Food Foundation, and advises the National Trust and Tate St Ives.

When there's a gap in his diary, Malcolm takes the chance to get out on the water and is a keen dingy sailor – he’s even been known to win the odd races! A true Cornishman he is most at home when enjoying time with his family and much-adored pup.

Mike Steel – Operations/Commercial Manager

Mike is Malcolm’s right-hand man and helps with all things operational to ensure Visit Cornwall is working effectively. He streamlines systems and procedures to make sure they work harder and smarter for the team and members. In addition, Mike heads up Visit Cornwall’s commercial and membership approach, driving new business development projects forward. With a financial background, Mike has an eye for procedures and loves an Excel spread sheet.

A family man, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife, young children and not forgetting his chocolate cocker spaniel, Cadbury. He is also partial to a spot of sea swimming or fishing.

Mike works part-time and is available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Abi Steel – Special Assistant to CEO

Abi brings a wealth of experience from her 20 years working in hotel management and tourist information. Abi works closely with Malcolm on development activities, including website development, the design and content of printed guides, exhibitions and supporting Malcolm on the lobbying agendas. Most importantly, she brings her front line hospitality experience and visitor insight to the team, ensuring the needs of visitors and members are met. Finally, Abi coordinates the communication and collaboration with Cornwall’s Tourist information Centres - all within 10 hours per week.

Abi is a busy mum and is often found on the beach building sandcastles with her little ones.

Rosa Pedley - PR & Communications Manager

It's Rosa’s job to make sure destination Cornwall is talked about in all the right places. Whether it's national travel journalists, bloggers, tour operators or film crews, Rosa’s giving them the inside scoop on what's hot in Cornwall or sending them off on fabulous press trips around the county.

She's also responsible for shouting about Visit Cornwall's achievements and keeping the industry up-to-date on tourism news, opportunities and issues.

Away from the laptop, Rosa is an avid runner and dog lover, and is often out exploring Cornwall’s hidden spots with her border collie in tow.

Rosa works part-time and is available on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Laura Easlick – Admin and Marketing Support

Every team needs a Laura! She ensures everything is ticking over nicely at Visit Cornwall, from answering telephone calls and making sure content is fresh and updated on visitcornwall.com to driving the consumer facing social media activities and profiles.

Laura is a former English teacher and is a stickler for using correct language and grammar. It’s always been a dream of hers to work for Visit Cornwall, as let’s be honest, it is a pretty awesome place to promote. When she is not at Visit Cornwall HQ, Laura enjoys camping trips, walks on the beach and live music events.
