In the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Excellence Awards the tourism body has won praise for its digital transformation which saw it overhaul its website to become fully mobile responsive and user-friendly, whilst helping the tourism industry to embrace digital marketing through workshops and training. With digital at its heart Visit Cornwall has developed from an old school Tourist Board into a leading digital destination marketing organisation and now sits as one of eight finalists in the digital transformation category.

Visit Cornwall’s ‘Memories are Made in Cornwall’ campaign which showcased Cornwall as a family-friendly destination has also caught the attention of the CIM Marketing Excellence Awards. To complete the triple feat Visit Cornwall’s #LoveCornwall film series has reached the finals of The Travel Marketing Awards for ‘Best Use of Film’. Each film in the series is an individual short story which uses clever and succinct storytelling; creativity; beautiful imagery; evocative music; and fun animation, to bring to life Cornwall’s unique characteristics and characters. The films were created to champion Cornwall as a unique, rich and diverse holiday destination and to create a “buzz” about Cornwall among the digital community.

“From being one of the very first Tourist Boards, Visit Cornwall has become a leading destination marketing organisation. Through integrated and innovative marketing with real results we have had a significant impact on the Cornwall visitor economy and delivered strong return on investment to partner tourism businesses,” comments Malcom Bell, head of Visit Cornwall for Cornwall Development Company. “To have this recognised by professional peers is hugely rewarding and I hope the industry will join me in celebrating being up for three top marketing awards.”

The multiple award nominations follow a record-breaking year for Visit Cornwall, which among its 2014 successes saw its website,, smash targets and increase visits by 40% to over 3 million visits. Visit Cornwall now awaits the finals of The Travel Marketing Awards and the CIM Excellence Awards which take place on 19 March and 27 April respectively.
