Launceston Golf Club
We are located just off the A30 and the first golf club as you cross the Cornish border, close to both North and South coasts. If you are travelling in the West Country for a golfing break, why not make us your first or last call for your golf in Cornwall?
We offer value for money packages for green fee players and society golfers. Our professional will help run society days, leaving you to enjoy your time with us. We feel sure that you would soon become one of our regular guests ready to return for more Cornish golf.
The elevated levels of the course offer spectacular countryside views over both Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor, with majestic views of our historic town, the ancient county capital and Norman castle.
The club originated back in 1910. The 1914-18 war led to a fourteen year hiatus during which the nine hole course was ploughed up and almost forgotten. It rose again in 1927 and in the 1970's a group of members got together a plan to build another nine holes.
Golf course architect Hamilton Stutt was engaged and plans were finalised and after a lot of hard work from members and staff the result is now a well-established 6385 yard par 70 parkland course. It offers an excellent and challenging round of golf for all standards of golfers. For ladies it is 5682 yards, par 73. The course opens and ends with dog-leg par fives and meanders through wooded parkland including the highest point on the eighth where the visitor should stop a while to take in the stunning view over the surrounding countryside of the Devon and Cornwall borders. We are sure you will want to return both for these views and to once again play the excellently prepared golf course.
John Tozer, our club professional, has a fully stocked shop with most leading brands of golfing equipment and clothing, all offered at very competitive prices. A club hire facility is also provided. The latest clothing is also stocked, making the selection of golf wear and presents very tempting.
We have a good stock of pull carts, a limited number of electric pushed carts and there are also buggies for hire, but advance booking is strongly recommended.
Tuition is offered for all standards of players at very competitive prices, again booking is recommended.
