The Natural Fibre Company
Guided Mill Tours providing an insight into one of the UK's oldest manufacturing industries producing quality yarns, made in Cornwall
The Natural Fibre Company is a specialist spinning mill making yarns for regional and rare wool, alpaca and mohair producers. Based in Launceston, Cornwall, we are the only mill in the country to spin both woollen and worsted yarns under the same roof . We add value to fleece by blending high quality regional and rare wool, mohair and alpaca with natural fibres such as silk and linen. Our sister company, Blacker Yarns produces a large variety of breed specific, quality British yarn in contemporary colour palettes, made with love here in Cornwall. Our Mill tours are led by our friendly and knowledgeable team who provide a behind the scenes insight into the fascinating processes that take place when we turn raw fleece into beautiful knitting and crochet yarn. We take you through the various stages of our work from handling raw fleece, scouring, carding, worsted and woollen spinning and finishing to create the wonderful end product. Learn more about wool - a unique, natural and sustainable fibre and see the highly skilled work that takes place in one of the oldest manufacturing industries, still in existence today.
