Preserving Causley's legacy by creating opportunities for writers, artists, and communities to develop and connect through a programme of residencies

The Charles Causley Trust aims to keep alive the memory of the late Charles Causley, to raise the profile and appreciation of his work, and to promote writing and the other arts. Charles Causley (1917-2003) is acknowledged as one of the finest of all 20th-century English poets. In 2007, the Trust acquired Cyprus Well, Causley’s former Launceston home, which is now a centre promoting new literature and arts activity. The property hosts our annual artist residencies, some of our events, and from October 2022 is also open for cultural retreats. Through our annual poetry competitions, arts and literature festival and creative initiatives - which include workshops with writers and artists and an online creative writing hub, we provide opportunities for young people to engage with literature as a continuation of Charles' work in his hometown of Launceston. You can find out more information about our 2022 Festival and secure tickets, via our website
