The Old Sardine Factory
The Heritage Centre will reopen to visitors on Thursday, 23rd July from 11am-4pm on Thursdays-Sundays. We will be embracing the 'new normal' and are putting in place a system of pre-booking to keep everyone safe.
Looe has been an important harbour for centuries, but until now its maritime story has not been told. Now you can explore the history in a purpose built heritage centre contained in the former sardine factory on West Looe Quayside. Learn how we exported pilchards from Looe to Italy, sent pilgrims to Galicia and sailed across the Atlantic to catch cod off of Newfoundland. View our extensive image library, watch videos about boat building or experience a lifeboat Shout! with state of the art VR technology.
Check our website for events and talks.
We also have a cafe on-site as well as our restaurant upstairs and a climbing wall and kayaking centre.
