    Armed Forces Day, the national event is hosted in Cornwall 2023 from 23rd - 25th June. This prestigious event celebrates the UK’s military and all they do to keep us safe.

    Visitors can expect to see Top Gun style displays from the Red Arrows and the precision and aerobatic capabilities of helicopter stunt teams. There will be parades. Tanks and military vehicles on show, the opportunity to tour naval ships and a spectacular fireworks display. It is a free event.

    Friday 23rd June

    The celebrations begin on Friday 23rd June. See below to find out what's coming up!

    • From 11.00 to 17.00, you will find stands, displays and activities showcasing the work of armed forces charities and support organisations on the upper level of Church Street Car Park.

    • On the lower level of Church Street Car Park, you find an entertainment area, complete with a stage, live music, and a bar. This will be running between 12.00 and 20.00.

    • Join author Damien Lewis to talk about his new book, 'SAS Great Escapes II'. This a paid-for ticketed event, which will take place at The Poly from 19.00. Click here for more information and to book your space.

    • At 19.00 you'll be treated to an hour of hilarity and emotion live on stage at Underland Bar. The event is free to attend but must be pre-booked. Tickets will be released soon, please click here for updates.

    Saturday 24th June

    The Saturday events programme is jam-packed with fun for all the family, including the Military Parade, live music, and a fireworks finale.

    • From 09.00 until 18.00, Tri service displays of military assets, demonstrations and interactive activities will be on offer at Grove Place Car Park.

    • The upper level of Church Street Car Park will once again play host to the Charity Zone from 10.00 until 17.00, where there'll be stands, displays and activities showcasing the work of armed forces charities and support organisations.

    • On the lower level of Church Street Car Park, you will find an entertainment area, complete with a stage, live music, and a bar. Open from 10.00 - 20.00.

      Events Square will also have an entertainment area with military demonstrations and a live music programme. This will run between 10.00 and 17.00.

      Down on The Moor between 10.00 and 17.00, you will find a whole host of family entertainment, including an interactive space dome and STEM board games, street performers and stilt walkers, a carosuel, a market, and a Florence Nightingale Exhibition at Falmouth Library.

    • Naval Frigate will be moored alongside the Wharf at Falmouth Docks for public tours between 10.00 and 14.30. The event is free but entry will be limited to ticket holders. Tickets will be available soon, click here for updates.

    • Starting at 11.00, see the parade through Falmouth involving Cornwall’s armed forces, veterans, cadet forces and reserve units. Leaving from The Moor, the parade will culminate on Discovery Quay (Events Squre).

    • The Military Parade will conclude with a fly past, with limited viewing from Grove Place Car Park at 11.10.

    • There will be an inter-services cadets field gun competition co-ordinated by cadet forces between 13.00 and 14.00 on Bar Road.

    • Enjoy an afternoon of air displays over Falmouth Bay - watch from Pendennis Castle! From 14.20 - 17.00.

    • Join author, broadcaster and former Royal Marine Monty Halls as he gives us a behind the scenes glimpse into the world of the modern Royal Marine Commandos. This is a ticketed, paid for event that will take place at The Poly at 18.00. Click here to book tickets.

    • A ‘Last night of the Proms’ style concert will take place at Pendennis Castle from 18.30, celebrating and thanking armed forces.

      Featuring Big Band Orchestra, Royal Marine Band drummers, Culdrose Military Wives Choir, Youth Choir.

      This is a free event, but numbers limited to ticket-holders. Details will be advertised in advance, click here for updates.

    • Join author and former fighter pilot Paul Tremelling as he looks back over a lifelong fascination with one of our most iconic aircraft, the iconic Harrier jet, and provides a vivid, unapologetic and blisteringly authentic account of life in the Fleet Air Arm.

      This is a paid-for, ticketed event, which will take place at The Poly at 20.00. You can book your tickets here.

    • At 22.40, there will be a free 10-minute fireworks display over Falmouth Bay.

    Sunday 25th June

    Join the final day of celebrations in Falmouth for National Armed Forces Day.

    • 27-mile off-road ride and a 62-mile road ride bringing together families, local cyclists, serving personnel and veterans, organised by Halo Sports and SSAFA. Set off from Pendennis Head car park at 09.00.

    • This public service of thanksgiving will take place at King Charles the Martyr Church, Falmouth, at 11.00.

    • The Charity Zone will remain open on the upper level of Church Street Car Park between 11.00 and 16.00.

      There you will find stands, displays and activities showcasing the work of armed forces charities and support organisations.

    • On the lower level of Church Street car park between 11.00 and 16.00, you will find musical entertainment in partnership with Source FM, with a stage and bar area.

      Down on The Moor between 11.00 and 16.00, you will find an interactive space dome and STEM board games, as well as stilt walkers and a market.

      There will be additional entertainment on Events Square between 12.00 and 16.00.

    Getting Here

    Please be aware of the following travel information for those attending National Armed Forces Day.

    Park & Ride

    The town centre car parks will be closed during the event. Registered disabled attendees will be able to park in Gyllyngvase Car Park, and the Pendennis Car Parks will be open to pre-booked ticket holders only.

    To minimise traffic congestion, there will be a one-day Park & Ride service on Saturday 24th June. The Park & Ride will be based at Falmouth University's Tremough Campus.

    Train & Bus Travel

    The Maritime Line rail link has trains every half hour from Truro Station to Falmouth Docks, only a short walk from all the action. And don’t forget, a £10 ‘Dayrider’ family bus ticket now allows two adults and any number of accompanying children multiple bus journeys on all Cornish bus routes for the whole day (this excludes Park & Ride buses).
