    PIRATES! at Pendennis Castle

    Tuesday 28th May - Thursday 30th May 2024

    Ahoy, me hearties! Set sail for Pendennis Castle this May half-term and get ready for a spectacular adventure on the high seas. Arrrrre you ready for a swashbuckling day out at the seaside? See some of history’s most famous pirates fight it out at close quarters, and listen to them tell their tales of booty, bounty and barnacles.

    There’ll be plenty of piratical fun for the whole family set against the backdrop of the Cornish coast. Wander through the atmospheric encampment where you can learn the ropes in pirate school, follow your nose to the cook’s tent and sing along to sea shanties.

    Children and adults alike will be immersed in tales of scallywags and salty sea dogs with storytelling, swordplay and interactive shows. A treasure trove of fun at Falmouth’s fortress.

    Week of Wizardry at Camel Creek

    Sunday 27th - Friday 31st May

    This May half-term, Camel Creek invites you to embark on a spellbinding adventure during their spectacular Week of Wizardry! Unleash your inner magician and delve into the enchanting world of myths and legends.

    Prepare to be amazed by the extraordinary live Smoke-Breathing Dragon—friendly and perfect for unforgettable photo opportunities. Discover the joy of potion-making at the Magical Potions station, and journey through the park following the clues in Merlin's Journal of Wizardry. Young adventurers can dig for Magical Gemstones, revealing their hidden superpowers.

    But the magic doesn't end there! Experience Camel Creek’s three brand-new attractions for 2024: including Merlin’s Magical Playground, The Hidden Garden Café, and the thrilling Shipwreck Shores Adventure Golf. With over 40 rides and attractions, and the chance to meet over 100 animals, Camel Creek is your ultimate destination for family fun this half-term.

    Bird Box Bingo Trail at Trebah Garden

    18th May – 9th June

    Explore Trebah’s gorgeous garden and discover avian wildlife while following the Bird Box trail. Spot the bird boxes and cross off their number in your booklet when you find them. Spot them all and you will be rewarded with a prize available to collect from the Entrance Desk.

    National Lobster Hatchery - Hey Babies!

    25th May – June 2nd

    May – the month of blooming flowers, sunny visits, and plenty of baby animal sightings. The sealife thrives too, espeically at the lobster hatchery which peak production season this month. During this time the hatchery will see up to 3,000 baby lobsters born each day! Visit during half term and meet their latest arrivals, learn more about lobsters alongside other marine life and peak into one of the busiest seasons at the hatchery.

    Rock Pool Exploration at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall

    Saturday 25th May – Sunday 2nd June

    Alongside their exciting new Pirate exhibition, the National Maritime Museum Cornwall are bringing The Rock Pool Project’s mobile rock pool to the museum and is sure to satisfy even the most inquisitive.

    Children are invited to uncover the curious creatures inhabiting the Cornish coast, delve into the mysteries of our local sea life, and master the art of rock pooling. They'll learn how to identify the fascinating creatures they find and learn the best ways to explore rock pools. Armed with their newfound knowledge, you’ll have a hard time pulling them away from the rock pools at your next beach visit.

    After exploring the mobile rock pool, explore the museums pirate exhibition all while helping Herman the Hermit Crab find his underwater friends with a sea-themed museum trail. You’ll discover some of the weirdest and most wonderful creatures found in Cornish rock pools and have fun adding creatures to your own rockpool using fun stamps dotted around the museum.

    After kids have used their explorer skills on the museum trails, they can make their very own hermit crab hand puppet, bringing Herman the Hermit Crab to life or create a unique make a crab and seaweed crown.

    Cornwall Street Food Festival

    Friday 24th – Monday 27th May

    Want to entertain the young foodies of the family? Join the Cornwall Street Food Festival in Newquay for a four-day extravaganza of great food, entertainment, and family fun. This event brings together over 25 top street food traders who will serve up a diverse array of delicious dishes. Feast on an international culinary journey with flavors ranging from Indian to Vietnamese, Thai to Moroccan, Mexican to Afghan, Caribbean to Uzbek, and many more. There's also plenty to satisfy your sweet tooth.

    Kids go free to this event, but tickets still need to be reserved online. Adult tickets are available for £3 and each purchase includes a reusable cup, which not only helps reduce waste but also grants free entry for the entire weekend after your first visit.

    Skillywidden at Minack Theatre

    29th – 31st May

    Popular Squashbox Theatre, renowned for their family-oriented storytelling, is returning to Minack Theatre for a select days this May with their performance of "Skillywidden." This distinctive show blends puppets, songs, storytelling, and cabaret to celebrate the wildlife and faery myths of Cornwall. "Skillywidden" not only entertains but also carries a strong environmental message, making it a meaningful experience for families with young children.

    Create flower art at Trengwainton

    26th – 30th May, 2nd June

    Head to Trengwainton this May half term and take part in a unique springtime activity. Grab a stick at the reception and as you explore the garden, gather fallen flowers and use them to make fallen flower kebabs. Once you have completed your kebab, you can pop it in the ground as part of a collective piece of wild art. Together, these individual kebabs will form the shape of a dragonfly.

    Una Spring Fayre

    Saturday 25th May, 10am – 4pm

    Kick off the half term and celebrate springtime with a visit to Una’s Spring Fayre. Face painting and a visit from the real Cornish Mermaids will capture young children while adults will enjoy wandering the wide selection of stalls from local vendors and craftspeople selling a range of handmade items alongside the express spa treatments on offer. The whole family will enjoy the live music and of course the deliciously tempting food and drink available.

    The Spring Fayre is a highly popular event so booking is highly recommended.

    Festival of Imagination at the Eden Project

    25th May - 2nd June

    The Eden Project’s Festival of Imagination is set to captivate children with an enriching celebration of culture and creativity. This festival offers access to art and culture that aims to inspire, empower, and provoke questions. Families can immerse themselves in a world of wonder, filled with diverse experiences inspired by music, art, literature, and interactive fun suitable for all ages.

    Attendees will find an array of engaging activities. At Blockbuster Factory participants can delve into film production by taking on roles such as a camera operator, makeup artist, or daring stunt double, with each performance creating a unique cinematic story. Or watch a performance of "Anansi and the Lost Sun" featuring live African drumming, dancing, and acrobat performances, along with drumming workshops provided by One Drum and drop in puppetry crafts.

    Outdoor adventure at Stithians Lake

    Monday 27th May – 2nd June 2024

    Soak up the sun at Stithians Lake while enjoying a series of exciting water sports fun this half term. Choose from a range of activities running throughout the week including sailing and windsurfing lessons and gain skills from qualified instructors all while having fun. Or make unforgettable family experiences by hiring your own water sports equipment available at the lake throughout the week.

    Can’t pick just one activity? On Tuesday 28th May, Stithains Lake are hosting a Multi Activity Day where you can try your hand at a variety of land and water-based activities including sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and raft building for a jam-packed day out.

    Please note, some activities are dependent on the weather conditions on the day.

    ‎ Wild Week at The Lost Gardens of Heligan

    The Lost Gardens of Heligan invites guests to reconnect with the wilderness this half term. Rediscover the beauty and importance of the wild with activities that promise to rewild both young and old. Dive into wildlife-inspired crafts, learn survival skills with Canoe Cornwall, or get creative with face painting and nature crafts. Embrace your wild side through exhilarating target practice, cozy campfire sessions, and a wild bug hunt.
