Our Open to All, one-day workshop experiences- with overnight options- provide you with the chance to immerse yourself in our woodland: all offer you a social prescription to the natural health service. What's more, as a social enterprise, Greenwood Music re-invests 50% of our profits generated back into our SOCIAL PURPOSE PROGRAMME: supporting the wellbeing of ALL members of society.

Wellbeing in Nature: Crafting

Fancy carving your very own spoon or knife? Or maybe you’re up for the challenge of crafting a three-legged stool! Whatever your ambition, we’re here to help you transform green wood into a treasured possession or impressive gift. Under the guidance of our experienced tutors, you’ll learn how to safely use traditional hand tools including a shave horse, drawknives and axes. Greenwood craft is the age-old method of making practical and beautiful objects from freshly cut ‘green’ wood and it’s all part of a present-day drive towards sympathetic conservation and sustainable woodland management.

After a prepared lunch, we will continue to craft, as well as experiencing the woodland through nature immersion activities that will keep you fully occupied. If wandering exploration appeals, well you can do that too. A campfire- under a parachute when weather inclement- tables and seating under an all-weather shelter AND plenty of tea and biscuits throughout, will make this a day to remember.

[All tools and equipment will be provided]

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available throughout and lunch cooked on the open fire will be provided: an opportunity to connect, share and reflect around the fire (please let us know if you have any dietary requirements when booking). Cost: £85.00 including hot drinks and cooked lunch. Maximum 10 participants Starts: 09:30 Ends: 16:00

If you would like to book a Crafting experience for your own group (min. 5 people), please contact us to discuss dates.

Wellbeing in Nature: Being

We all need to look after our mental health, and we also know that simply ‘being in nature’ works wonders: as Henry David Thoreau put it, “the tonic of wilderness”. In recent years this has been validated by robust research. The sounds, the scents and the majesty of the trees, conspire to calm; nature helps us access the time that we may need to think things through. In Japan, such forest bathing or Shinrin-yoku is a recognised form of eco-therapy and its benefits are gaining recognition around the world.

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our exprienced and friendly staff and a hot brew. In the morning you will take part in a variety of forest bathing activities to allow you to take in the ancient woodland around you using all your senses. Mindfulness is central to the morning and you will have the opportunity to experience “hammock time”: a mindful relaxation session in an hammock set up in the woods, by the pristine River Lynher.

After sharing a hot lunch cooked over the open fire, you’ll take part in Dru Yoga; a powerfully transformative style of yoga for body, mind and spirit. The movements, originating from the spine, are similar to Tai Chi and Qigong, where a healthy flexible spine supports your whole yoga practice. Dru, derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Dhruva’, means ‘stillness and unchanging’. This exercise in movement – accessible to all – promotes an experience of stillness which can enable us to find a deep inner calm.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available throughout and lunch cooked on the open fire will be provided: an opportunity to connect, share and reflect around the fire (please let us know if you have any dietary requirements when booking).

Cost: £85.00 including hot drinks and cooked lunch. Maximum 8 participants

Starts: 09:30 Ends: 16:00

If you would like to book a Being experience for your own group (min. 5 people), please contact us to discuss cost & dates.

Why not consider staying the night before or after the workshop. Staying overnight in our wood will give you a deeper experience of being in nature, taking a dip in the river and enjoying the crystal-clear night sky afforded us by our remote location on the foothills of Bodmin Moor. You can hire one of our 5m belltents (with wood burner for the colder months): price for the bell tent is £95.00/night (for up to 4 people). Or you can bring your own tent and camp within our 40-acre woodland: price £10.00/night.
