Heartlands

Heartlands is a FREE to enter visitor attraction and Cornish Mining World Heritage Site gateway in Cornwall.

Nestled just off the A30 in Pool, near Redruth in the former mining heart of Cornwall, there are 19 acres to explore. State-of-the-art exhibitions, gardens of real diversity, a giant adventure playground for kids, small community of local business and the unique Red River Café in the old carpenter’s workshop. With swathes of green outdoor space for warm, sunny days and indoor exhibits for when it’s wet, Heartlands is all-year round, all-weather entertainment for anyone and everyone.

Play & Outdoor Adventure

Heartlands is home to a spectacular, free adventure playground for visitors of all ages, all year round. With one of the largest children's adventure play areas in the South West, five unique gardens and parkland, plus links to cycling routes for those keen to discover the surrounding countryside, exploring the heart of Cornwall couldn't be more fun.

Arts, Entertainment and Events

Celebrating local talent and creativity, Heartlands offers a developing programme of art exhibitions, festivals and music and theatre performances attracting visitors throughout the year. Two outdoor spaces accommodate performances and events for an immense number of people. A series of adaptable indoor venues, including an audio-visual theatre, host everything from regional business conferences to community group meetings and craft workshops.

Diaspora Gardens

With sensory gardens, water features, and trails, the ever-changing landscape at Heartlands is set to become a paradise for nature lovers and gardeners.

Red River Cafe

Visitors to Heartlands have the chance to sample produce from the region's best and most innovative food producers and suppliers. Fresh, seasonal and local produce take centre stage at the Red River Café.

History & Heritage

Heartlands is a landmark destination within the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. At the centre of the development, the Grade II listed Robinson's Shaft mine complex has been restored to become an exhibition centre to cover the past, present and future of Cornish ingenuity enabling visitors to learn more about Cornwall's mining history, landscape and cultural heritage. The complex houses an innovation and interpretation centre with a permanent exhibition of colourful, interactive learning resources and historic artefacts.

Heartlands aims to engage, intrigue and excite the imagination of every visitor. Thought-provoking art installations are dotted throughout the development to enrich understanding and appreciation of the region's cultural and natural heritage. In collaboration with local schools and colleges.
