Cornwall for All

Getting out and about in Cornwall can require a certain level of capability if you want to explore away from the main destinations. For one thing, very little of Cornwall is flat! However, that doesn’t mean people with reduced mobility or disabilities should be put off.

There’s still loads of places that are accessible, depending on people’s abilities, and we have created a useful list here, that includes information on where off-road Trampers can be hired. You can read it here. There’s also lots of links on our Accessibility page, which we hope is useful?

Of course, there’s no point in directing you to places if you have no where to stay, so why not cast your eye over our accommodation pages and filter out the accessible hotel’s, cottages or holiday parks? Those who are part of the National Accessible Scheme can be found here, but there are many more who offer ground floor rooms, lifts or hearing loops etc. Check them all out here.

One business that not only offers high standard accessible accommodation, but also a chance to get out and enjoy the wilder side of Cornwall is Trevassack Holidays. This is a brand new adventure holiday destination set in 26 acres around a sheltered and tranquil lake on the Lizard Peninsula. You can sail around the lake, explore it by kayak, learn to paddleboard or take part in one of the wild swimming sessions. Don’t fancy that? Well you could just relax in a hot tub all day or make use of the various trails around the lake, there are even facilities for disabled horse riders nearby.

Elsewhere in Cornwall you can stay in the Four Star Hotel Penzance overlooking Mounts Bay, an 18th Century barn at Todsworthy Farm in the beautiful Tamar Valley, even a Victorian railway carriage beside the mainline in South East Cornwall.

So, if you are looking for an accessible holiday and were unsure if Cornwall would be suitable, give us a chance, we think you will be surprised?
