I Dream of Cornwall
A few weeks ago, we asked our friends on social media to tell us what their dream holiday to Cornwall would involve. The replies were a lot more conservative than we imagined they would be…. Ross Poldark only featured once, and even then, he had his clothes on and was just walking along the South West Coast Path.
Most of the replies involved the consumption of pasties on a variety of seafronts and quaysides throughout Cornwall and it was coastal locations from Bude down to Sennen, and up to Looe that were suggested as the most popular dream destinations.
A few were transported to the wonderful gardens at Trebah, definitely somewhere you could imagine a dream taking place, whilst others found themselves watching the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean from a beach on the north coast.
As well as pasties, people dreamt of fish and chips, Cornish ice cream and drinking gin and tonics, all products that we excel in creating here in Cornwall. They found themselves on St Michael’s Mount, on the train to St Ives and riding the waves at Fistral Beach.
In the end, it was clear that everybody was just dreaming of returning to Cornwall and hopefully those dreams will be able to come true later this year, if we are all sensible.
As for me, I am dreaming of joining all my friends in a Cornish pub for a sociable drink and a good live band, but them I’m lucky enough to able to walk beside a beach with a pasty at the moment...
