Memories are made of....
What do you remember about your first holiday to Cornwall?
We asked the Visit Cornwall team....
One of the older members has memories of going on holiday to Hayle Towans, staying in a chalet in the dunes. It was less than half an hour from home, but another world to explore with miles of sandy beach to explore.
At the north end of the beach, one of our membership team remembers BBQ's in the rain at Godrevy.
Another remembers playing Pitch & Putt at Helston, dreaming of being the next Nick Faldo...
Mine is playing on Millendreath beach near Looe with a pink plastic speedboat... I must have been about six years old, a couple of years before we moved to Cornwall.
My partners is surfing on a wooden board at Porthmeor beach, St Ives in the 1960s. She also remembers not being allowed to go on a boat trip to Seal Island.
Holywell Bay was a favourite of another member of staff, whilst another would holiday with the whole family at Rock. She has memories of sitting on the sea wall with a bottle of coke and a packet of crisps, although her most vivid memory is of her grandmother losing her false teeth overboard while crossing to Padstow on the ferry!
