Spring Awakening

Spring Awakening; Penzance area

The start of a new season is the perfect time to hit refresh. Wake up from winter with this inspiring spring itinerary.

Whether you fancy soaking in a geothermal pool or stretching out with a yoga class, Penzance is bustling with activities to help you to shake off the winter blues. Plus, with Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens opening for the season in mid-February, it’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural world as it springs into life.

You can mix and match from the suggested activities to create a great day out during your stay. If you were to do all the activities on this itinerary, it would take around two-three days. Please note: You will need to contact the venue or experience provider directly to book.

Beach clean; Sustainable Penzance

Do something good, feel even better. Explore the coast while taking part in a beach clean and help us to create a safer and more sustainable environment for our wildlife – all while enjoying the great outdoors and getting to meet some lovely people. Check the Sustainable Penzance Facebook page to see when they’re hosting the next beach clean at Longrock and keep an eye out for the silent disco events from Plastic Free Penzance.

Cornwall in bloom; Trewidden Gardens

From tree fern dells to camellias and magnolias, this ‘Cornish spring garden’ in the grounds of a Grade II listed manor house is not to be missed – especially when it is coming into bloom. The gardens are open from February to September, so it’s perfect for an early spring visit. Once you’ve explored the 15-acre garden, head to the Tea Room for lunch and cakes made with locally sourced ingredients.

Spring awakening; Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens

Visit Tremenheere in the spring, and you can easily spend an afternoon wandering through the woodland, gardens and fields. There are fascinating installations around every corner, from stone masonry to bamboo sculptures. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a mindful moment, experience the changing seasons and enjoy the details of nature. Find out more here.

Public gardens; Morrab Gardens

Did you know that there is a subtropical garden hidden in the middle of Penzance? Morrab Gardens is a free-to-enter public park that was created with plants gifted from estates in the local area. With a palm grove, fountain and rare subtropical plants, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a busy day of sightseeing. Find out more here
