What colours spring to mind when you think of Cornwall?
What colours spring to mind when you think of Cornwall?
Do you use Instagram? If so then @TateStIves wants us all to help create a Colours of Cornwall palette "filled with the colours associated with the people, places and things that characterise this beautiful county" with their favourites to go on a Tate Colours of Cornwall poster.
Each week until the end of July will have a different colour, kicking off this week (8th June) with Blue. It can be the blue of the sea, the blue of the sky, or go for something a bit more adventurous. And give it a colourful name, like something you would see on a paint chart.
How to take part...
• Think of a colour that makes you think of Cornwall and why
• Take a photograph, or make a fun gif, or an Instagram story to show the colour
• Give the colour a title for the colour palette – think of it like a paint chart
• Where possible use the colour in the title - for etcetera ‘Porthmeor Blue’
• The names of colours for the palette can be as funny, emotive, creative, evocative as you like
• Associate them to place names or iconic imagery or customs within Cornwall to make it even more fun...
• The colour could evoke a memory, nature, an object, a favourite food and drink… be as creative as you like
• Share on your social media feeds
Share your images, gifs or stories, with your paint chart-inspired names using #ColoursofCornwall #lovecornwalluk @TateStIves
