Encounter Cornwall AKA Paddle Cornwall SUP have been operating daily guided kayak/canoe trips, kayak hire and award winning stand-up paddle board lessons on the Fowey River Estuary for over 10 years. From 3 hour taster paddles to full day expeditions there are options to suit everyone.
As Cornwall Tourism Award winners, we have been running guided kayak/canoe trips, kayak hire and stand-up paddle boarding lessons since 2006 from our quiet, safe and sheltered village base in Golant at the heart of the Fowey Estuary.
Our all year round kayak trips are an ideal introduction to Fowey’s sheltered tidal waters, and are suitable for both families and those new to kayaking. We also hire to experienced paddlers. Explore its Creeks & Backwaters on the high tide – or on the low tide venture down to view it's Wildlife and historic Waterfronts. On both trips you will be paddling through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Marine Conservation Area teeming with wildlife that includes kingfishers, herons, egrets, cormorants, various waders and if you’re lucky a seal or dolphin. Both trips last 2-3 hours, with a 30min stop for refreshments. In the Summer months we also run a 2 hour evening Sundowner trip, and during school holidays and advertised weekends we also open 'Cafe Kayak' at our base at the Boatshed, serving all sorts of Cornish & homemade goodies! We welcome well behaved dogs, but please just check with us first.
We also offer a range of Stand-Up Paddle boarding (SUP) sessions from beginner to advanced, run by senior BSUPA SUP instructors and British Canoeing Paddlesport Coaches and Leaders.
Our price includes all necessary equipment, leaving you free to enjoy an experience which for many is the highlight of their holiday in Cornwall.
